Media players

Media players load and play media and enable Manabitan lookups.

Asbplayer

A browser-based media player and Chrome extension that can add text-selectable and Manabitan-scannable subtitles onto video sources (e.g. Netflix, Youtube, and video files).

A guide for adding text-selectable subtitles and mining from the MPV video player

Readers

Readers allow reading books and text on your browser which makes the text you read Manabitan-compatible.

Ttsu Reader

A minimal e-book reader that loads HTMLZ, Plain Text and EPUB files. Supports offline mode that makes this ideal for mobile and e-readers. This is the recommendation for Japanese learners.

Koodo Reader

An ebook manager and reader with wider support of file formats. No support on mobile.

Manabitan PDF Reader

A tool to read and scan PDFs in your browser with Manabitan.

Tooling

These are not made nor maintained by Manabitan developers, and it may break Manabitan's functionalities.

Japanese Mining Note

Generate beautiful Anki notes straight from Manabitan. Although it is built for Japanese, it should work for virtually all languages.

Textractor

Allows for Manabitan features when playing visual novels, video games or more with ease. To use Manabitan with Textractor, refer to one of the community guides such as Animecards to set up.

Animecards Mining Template

Animecards Anki note type which doesn't require any editing of Manabitan templates (handlebars).

Yomichan Forvo Server

Anki Addon which allows for additional custom audio sources from Forvo.

Generate Batch Audio

Anki Addon which allows for generating audio in bulk from a list of URLs.

Backfill Anki Manabitan

An Anki add-on to backfill fields including media and audio using Manabitan's API.

Themes

To use these themes, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Enable Advanced on the left toolbar.
  3. Go to AppearanceConfigure Custom CSS... and paste the contents into the Popup CSS field.

In some cases the CSS might contain proprietary fonts or dictionary names. In that case, please obtain them through legal means, or simply change them to the ones you have.

Manabitan Colored CSS

Yomichan custom CSS to color dictionaries by name. This currently supports most significant Japanese as well as Chinese/Cantonese dictionaries that are available for Yomichan.

Bint's Manabitan CSS

Beautiful custom CSS for Japanese kindly shared by Bint (caoimhe.00 on Discord).

Nelan's Manabitan CSS
